AHSAssumption High School held its first classes in 1951 as "Tri-City High" on the second floor of Our Lady Queen of Heaven school. Three years later, on August 15, 1954, the current facility was blessed and given the name Assumption in honor of the Catholic church's formal announcement of the dogma of the Assumption (ascension) of the Blessed Mother into heaven. Today the school houses both the high school, grades 9-12, and the middle school, grades 6-8. Approximately 40 faculty and staff members serve a total enrollment of nearly 300 students.

HLGNamed after the Landshuter sculptor, Hans Leinberger, the school was founded in 1833 originally as a royal business and trade "Realschule". In 1965 the school was renamed to a "Gymnasium". A Gymnasium is just one of three types of secondary education offered to German pupils. Pupils who graduate from a German Gymnasium receive an "Abitur" and are prepared to further their education at a German university. Today the school houses over 1600 pupils in grades 5-12, who are served by 127 faculty and nearly 40 teachers-in-training. The Hans-Leinberger Gymnasium offers its pupils study tracks in natural sciences and technology or languages, economics and humanities.
